Nevervault field guides

Find your photos and footage on Mac

Practical guides to searching a RAW photo and video archive with Nevervault, from local folders to a shelf of external drives and a mounted NAS.

Nevervault builds a local search index from the folders you choose. Your originals stay in place. Start with the workflow you need, or check the format guide before indexing your archive.

Search RAW photos on Mac

Find a remembered frame by its subject, then narrow by camera, lens or format.

Search external drives and NAS

Index folders where they live and understand what stays available when a drive disconnects.

Create collections and export across drives

Gather selects from any source, see which drives you need, and export originals one drive at a time.

Search video and spoken words

Find sampled frames and transcribed speech, including Blackmagic RAW footage.

Find photos with an AI agent

Connect an MCP-compatible agent, inspect lightweight previews, and build a collection from your creative brief.

Supported photo and video formats

Check RAW extensions, video containers, decoder limits and Mac requirements.

Before you start

You need an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later. Connect the drives you want to index and mount any NAS shares in Finder. Allow time for the first scan: a large archive or a slow network share takes longer than a small local folder.

The 14-day trial includes Pro. After the trial, the free tier keeps your library browsable and provides 20 searches a month with the top matches. Video search, transcription and advanced filters require Pro. See current pricing.
